Cranked: This Girl Can(ada)

I recently returned from a month-long trip exploring the Sea-to-Sky Highway, which runs from Pemberton to North Vancouver with the infamous Whistler nestled in between. British Columbia is a mountain biking mecca, so I expected the hills to be laden with mountain bikers, which they were, but something was a little off.

During a weekday in Pemberton I met two guys getting ready to ride together - nothing unusual to see there - but then, a lady pulls up and readies herself for a ride with her trail dog; alone, no boyfriend, just walking the dog… on a mountain bike [insert shocked emoji here]. And she wasn’t the only solo female rider I saw that day.
